Perhaps it could be equated to the soul of man; that is, the passage of time is the gradual increasing of heat in the kettle, and man is the water (water is the universal pre-requisite for life). When the time/heat gets too much, the essence of the water/man escapes and travels on the air, where – when the temperature is right again – it comes down and reconfigures as a liquid, unaware of its previous incarnation.

What then, would ice be?

When I was younger it was the occult symbolism of the Nazis, as I grew up it was all about Aliens, and a decade ago the field literally exploded with the destruction of the Twin Towers on September 11th. Immediately the alternative press found its feet via the new form of the self-published, tin-hat pamphlet, the Internet. Using the internet, researchers were able to quickly and freely distribute their ideas without editors, peer review or sometimes, an ounce of truth stopping them. A watering down of reality followed, and nowadays some people will blindly regurgitate ‘facts’ gleaned entirely from you tube videos and poorly designed web pages – not that aesthetics have any reflection on the truth, more that laziness in presentation might reflect laziness in research too. There are probably just as many you tube posts about web page design as there are about conspiracies. But that’s all besides my point.
The main theme of the recent glut of conspiracies concerns the end of the world. Centred around research into the Mayan codices, the date 2012 is the new JFK – or Roswell – depending on your age. It has even entered the mainstream media with the film 2012, a disaster movie of epic proportions where not just buildings and cities are destroyed, but whole continents are deluged, ultimately resembling something like a modern-day biblical flood. Some researchers have managed to shoe-horn this into religious studies and conclude that the End Times – as predicted in the book of Revelations – are upon us, whilst others still conclude that Aliens are about to reveal themselves to us as the harbingers of our salvation/destruction. Much of the reported evidence is gleaned esoterically from ancient stone tablets written in obscure, dead languages, or within the architecture of previous civilisations, whilst others further still rely on messages and prophecies from either disembodied spirit entities, or intergalactic space beings.

I for the most part, reserve judgement on a confirmed belief system, preferring instead the death-bed confession exit, or the ‘namu amida Butsu’ route. My own theory is that the end of the world is a psychological problem, regardless of your belief system. It sits in the unconscious, unresolved for our whole lifetime. And its only in recent times that a button has existed which could destroy the whole world, which leaves anyone who has the knowledge of it feeling totally, psychologically insecure. This is what interests me about the whole topic.
The subject of total nuclear annihilation was implanted in my mind at a very early age. I can still remember the TV programmes and disturbing dreams that followed – the blinding light and terrifying noise, the skeletal remains of my home town, the mushroom shaped cloud. I wrote stories in junior school about it, and am still writing stories, songs and this essay about it now, some twenty-odd years later. And I would speculate that I am not alone. Perhaps this unconscious fear that I’m proposing secretly dominates our minds, and is driving society into the ground – peace and love having failed to act as a shield against an unceasing threat, as have diplomacy and the tragedies of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Is this the real reason why, since the end of WW2, society seems to be degrading?
If the world can be destroyed in an instant, what are we logically left with? Well, nothing really. No hope, no future and no defence – apart from the psyche’s mechanism for blocking trauma. A ‘defence mechanism’ IS our only defence.

‘In limitation we must observe due measure. If a man should seek to impose galling limitations upon his own nature, it would be injurious. And if he should go too far in imposing limitations on others, they would rebel. Therefore it is necessary to set limits even upon limitation.’

1. take 2 eggs and weigh them.

2. weigh out the same amount in flour, and again, in butter.

3. Put it all in a big-ish bowl and mix.

4. pour the mix into a cake tin – greased or smeared with butter – preferably with a push out base.

5. put in a pre-heated oven at 180 degrees, for 20 minutes.

6. Push the cake out of the tin, and leave to cool on a rack.

knock up a bit of butter icing by mixing loads of butter and icing sugar, and put it on top of the cake – or between two cakes, with a nice layer of jam.

1. God done it. Dr Walther J Veight, an ex-evolutionist born-again Christian puts across a good argument for the spontaneous creation and recent catastrophic deluge theory, aka Creationism, with the sort of ultra-logic required by today’s doubters. Massive, intercontinental volcanic activity, followed by a rapid ice-age, and the resulting melt-off left only Noah and his wife, as well as their three sons and wives to populate the world again.

2. Aliens done it. Too many researchers basically agree that aliens visited Earth to intermingle primate DNA with their own DNA and created us. We then worshipped them and – it diverges here – they either went back into space, to return in 2012 on their home planet, Nibiru; or they stayed on Earth and have ruled us from the dawn of civilisation, and whose living relatives control many of the world’s major banks and corporations.

3. The Devil done it. Chuck Meissler ties the two together. Take theory number 1 – that the biblical account is an accurate representation of man’s creation – and add to it the idea that the Devil, forever more diabolical, is manifesting into our world from another dimension in UFO’s in order stop men worshipping God. We are being buttered up by the secret rulers of the world (who are in league with Satan) to defeat God in the final battle for humanity. In 2012 the Devil will disguise himself as saviour aliens/religious leaders (depending on what you believe in), a secret project governments are calling ‘Bluebeam’. The Devil is trying to imprison us into the material world, and ignore Christ the saviour. Therefore, if you believe in aliens, you’re a devil worshipper.

the way i see it, a lot of different people believe a lot of different things, and there isn’t really much proof for any of it when you look into it, which goes for the orthodox theories too. There are many unsolved questions, anomalies, missing links and conflicts in the theories of Evolution and Astrophysics, as there are in any of the ‘fringe’ theories. My only advice is, don’t choose just yet.

i have just put up a video on youtube of an old track by West London Ska band Skalectrix, who have kindly allowed us to dub a version of the song for the forthcoming Seedy Ron album i am producing entitled ‘History of the Future’ (released early 2011). originally recorded in 1982, it received little attention on its release, due to the very small number of pressings made (about 200 copies were pressed i think) a lot of which were subsequently damaged in a flood at Feltham’s now defunct ‘Borstal studios’.

For those that don’t know, the ‘Orban Optimod’ (other multi-band limiters are available) is what is responsible for this. I imagine that the more commercial your station, the more you crank the Optimod up, until you get to Capital radio where they squash the shit out of music to get it ‘pumping’ out of the cars of morning traffic estate agents. This piece of kit is responsible for Johnny Vaughan being louder than Chase and Status. It’s the reason Radio 4 seems so quiet compared to the other stations, they probably don’t use one at all, or use it tastefully, just to remove the ‘peaks’.

Here is a simple formula i have to determine how much compression each radio station applies to the mix.

Radio 1 – setting 1 (all dials set to 10) see also Capital radio, Absolute, Kiss 100
Radio 2 – setting 2 (all dials set to 3 o’clock) see also Smooth FM, Heart, Magic, local radio
Radio 3 – setting 3 (all dials set to 12 o’clock) see also talk radio, World Service
Radio 4 – setting 4 (all dials set to 7-9 o’clock) see also Classical FM

so you can now choose how much compression you want on your radio station by choosing the appropriate one from the list above. if i haven’t included your favourite station on my list, either use your initiative and pick one similar on the list, or write to me and i will do it for you.

I am, of course, saddened by this event, but also angry, at the treatment he had continually to deal with as a result of publishing a totally new idea, all those years ago. He was outcast by the communities he was trying to help, which played a big part in his eventually crippling depression, that hung around his neck until the day he died.

I once wrote a page about Stan to submit to wikipedia. it included a brief biography, gleaned from Stan during the many visits I made during the 5 or 6 years I knew him, a brief breakdown of his ideas – all too readily scorned or dismissed – and a summary of each of his books.

A few weeks after I had posted this piece I was told that it was going to be pulled, as Stan was classed as neither an historical figure, or an important writer. As wikipedia is based on citation and references to provide ‘proof’ for inclusion, someone had decided that the because of the lack of references to Stan in scientific papers he would be removed (although, at the time I suspected that a personal grudge was more likely the reason for this campaign). At the eleventh hour one of the more helpful wiki volunteers found some references to Stan in a scientific paper, that allowed me to submit a heavily edited version of my piece. Still, a few volunteer editors made a fuss about it, claiming the piece was only included ‘to support fringe race arguments’. This couldn’t have been any further from the truth for Stan, who had worked tirelessly his whole life to help humanity better understand itself.

The fact that hardly any reference to Stan is made in scientific (or indeed esoteric) writing is not down to the argument he is presenting. It is I believe due to his ability to piss off, and alienate himself from both the scientific community, and the alternative research communities, by supporting both, but at the same time asking them to take a good look at the stupidity of their staunch positions, and the possibility that their respective stances are in fact detrimental to the future of mankind.
Because this is what Stan Gooch was ultimately, a philanthropist. He cared so much about life that he didn’t want to see it end in the destructive and pointless way it looks like we are heading. He was looking for hope in a world that teaches you either believe in spirits, or you believe in immutable emptiness, and never the twain shall meet.

What’s Many Minds? That’s what everyone asks me. So, without getting too deep (cus it does go quite far down the hole), i’m going to explain the purpose for this tour.

Mister Frendo, Muddy Brown and I founded Many Minds a year ago whilst remixing ‘Schizophrenia’ for Guardians of the Ancient Wisdom. So many people added their flavour to that track that it was the only way to describe the remix. As Muddy Brown said – made by Many Minds.

After collaborations with Seedy Ron (whose album i’m producing), Elian Gray and Bill Daggs (DefDFires) Many Minds began to take on a direction, and it was after some long nights of discussion between the artists we were encouraged to solidify this concept and try to take it live.

DefDFires asked Mister Frendo if he would like to play the Camden Crawl with them, Seeds booked another few dates off the back of it. the tour was on.
Mister Frendo, myself and Muddy Brown will use the shows as a way of highlighting the production of Many Minds, as although collectively we’ve got a few tracks already recorded (and will be going in after the tour to make an album together), we’ve got to bring something of Many Minds to the audience. So what you’ll be seeing this time round is DefDFires backed by the Many Minds production crew. Guardians of the Ancient Wisdom will make an appearance, as will Seedy Ron, and we will be previewing exclusives from The Bunker and Many Minds. Some of our association members – Bangerman, Rockstar, The Lucid Movement – will be introduced. This tour is essentially a ‘hello’ from all of us to you. And we come in peace.

So let us bring you the dance. We’re just here to have a good time and make a good time for everyone else.
